Heights News

HUCC is starting a DAY IN THE HEIGHTS initiative.  This will be a focused effort to have our residents and other Tampa neighborhood residents visit our amazing Seminole Heights businesses.  We are a Chamber that wants to see all our businesses booming!  Our 1st DAY IN THE HEIGHTS will be a fundraiser to help Lee Elementary reopen it’s doors.  We welcome all HUCC businesses to participate!  Here are the details:

A Day In The Heights:  Retail Rallies for Lee Elementary School

The Heights Urban Core Chamber (HUCC) needs your help to support fundraising efforts to aid in the restoration of Lee Elementary School in Tampa Heights.  A major portion of this historic elementary school was destroyed in a fire on September 12, 2017 and efforts continue to assist the community save the school from demolition.

HUCC is asking Heights retailers to work with us to help raise money in this effort.  We are putting together an event to include raffle prizes donated by participating retailers, support of food trucks, and a map to show locations of participating retailers.  A Facebook page (“A Day in the Heights”) dedicated to the event will be set up to advertise the fundraiser and list all the retail stores involved.  Cost for retailer participation is $50.

Each retailer will be required to offer a raffle gift ($50 retail value) which they are responsible to assemble with items from their store.  The gift will be on display in each store.  Ticket prices are set at $5/each or $10/3 and HUCC will provide each store with the raffle tickets and an envelope to collect and track ticket sales.

Interested retailers need to provide HUCC with a photo of their raffle gift within 5 days after signing up (or coordinate with Jackie Brown to take the photo) so we can place on Facebook multiple times prior to the event.  We hope to drive traffic to the participating retailers with the main focus being Father’s Day Weekend – June 15th-17th The following Monday, HUCC will collect the raffle envelopes, draw winners and make announcements online (again driving additional business to your location).

A donation presentation will be coordinated after the fundraiser, with all participating businesses mentioned and encouraged to attend.  Social media, direct marketing and photos of the fundraiser will be provided to each participating businesses.

Retailers are asked to call any of the following HUCC chairpersons if interested or with any questions.  We hope you find this a worthwhile cause, as we feel it would be good for your business, as well as a way to help take care of our community!
